Meiner Ansicht nach sind die Theorien der Sozialisation unweigerlich verknüpft mit dem Konzept der Kapitalien, nur leider viel zu wenig diskutiert. Dies liegt sicherlich in den unterschiedlichen Ansatzpunkten beider Theorien. Während die Sozialisationstheorien grundlegend von einem motivierten selbstständigen handelnden Individuum ausgehen, spricht Bourdieu den Reproduktionsstrategien des sozialen Raumes und den somit auferlegten strukturellen Einschränkungen der Handlungsmotive einen höheren Stellenwert zu. Jedoch gerade die Theorie der Kapitalien beschreibt eine unweigerliche Verknüpfung zur Sozialisationstheorie von George Herbert Mead durch die Prozesse des Erwerbs und der Nutzung der einzelnen Kapitalarten.
