Data Analysis in Management with SPSS Software

This book provides readers with a greater understanding of a variety of statistical techniques along with the procedure to use the most popular statistical software package SPSS. It strengthens the intuitive understanding of the material, thereby increasing the ability to successfully analyze data in the future. The book provides more control in the analysis of data so that readers can apply the techniques to a broader spectrum of research problems. This book focuses on providing readers with the knowledge and skills needed to carry out research in management, humanities, social and behavioural sciences by using SPSS.

Strategic Closed-Loop Supply Chain Management

The structure of this book follows the decision-making process of Original Equipment Manufacturers investigating the potential of closed loops, including fundamental questions managers must answer when planning a circular supply chain: Does a closed loop fit corporate objectives? Is it profitable? How should OEMs deal with free-rider competition? Which product/technology/location setup leads to a profit-maximizing supply chain? The book includes case studies from the tire and the computer industry.

Handbook of Strategic e-Business Management

This research handbook provides a comprehensive, integrative, and authoritative resource on the main strategic management issues for companies within the e-business context. It covers an extensive set of topics, dealing with the major issues which articulate the e-business framework from a business perspective. The handbook is divided into the following e-business related parts: background; evolved strategic framework for the management of companies; key business processes, areas and activities; and, finally, emerging issues, trends and opportunities, with special attention to diverse Social Web-related implications. The articles are varied, timely and present high-quality research; many of these unique contributions will be especially valued and influential for business scholars and professionals interested in e-business. Many of the contributors are outstanding business scholars who are or have been editors-in-chief of top-ranked management and business journals or have made significant contributions to the development of their respective fields.

Their contribution on e-business should be considered and tracked in future.

Icarus' Second Chance

The Basis and Perspectives of Space Ethics

2011: fifty years separate us from the flight of Yuri Gagarin. Fifty years of extraordinary successes, with the kind of apotheosis represented by the first man on the moon; fifty years also of bitter failures, even tragic when they involved the deaths of human beings; finally, fifty years during which space largely contributed to the scientific and technical, political and economic, cultural and social transformation of humanity. This is a critical analysis of the decisions and the actions which constituted and constitute still the field of astronautic activities, to analyse this field's strategies and choices, their consequences on the natural environment and on humans, in short to work out and apply an ethical investigation. This work is the fruit of research carried out by the French Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) over the past ten years, in collaboration with many organisations, astronautical or not: ESA, NASA and especially ESPI.

Computational Biomechanics of the Hip Joint

This book presents analyses of the most commonly reported failure modes of hip stems: loosening and thigh pain; both are attributed to the relative motion and instability at the bone-implant interface due to failure to achieve sufficient primary fixation. The book investigates various factors that could affect primary stability and therefore the long-term outcome of hip arthroplasty. The results complement experimental work carried out in this area as in-vitro experiments have several limitations that could be addressed through computer simulations.

Computational Biomechanics of the Wrist Joint

This book presents an analysis of the stress distribution and contact stresses in severe rheumatoid wrist after total wrist arthroplasty. It assesses and compares the load transfer throughout the joint and contact pressure at the articulations. The data obtained from this study is of importance as this provide greater evidence to the benefits of total wrist arthroplasty in rheumatoid arthritis patients.

Biomechanics in Dentistry: Evaluation of Different Surgical Approaches to Treat Atrophic Maxilla Patients

This book shows computational finite element simulations to analyse the strength of implant anchorage for intrasinus and extramaxillary approaches under various occlusal loading locations and directions. Three-dimensional model of the craniofacial area surrounding the region of interest, soft tissue and framework are developed using computed tomography image datasets. The zygomatic and standard dental implants are modeled using a conventional computer-aided design software and placed at the appropriate location. Material properties are assigned appropriately for the cortical, cancellous bones and implants with Masseter forces applied at the zygomatic arch and occlusal loadings applied on the framework surface.

Anesthesiology: Today and Tomorrow

Annual Utah Postgraduate Course in Anesthesiology 1985

Certainly it is difficult to sufficiently recognize all those people responsible for
making this as successful a course as it is today. Each successive course

Temporal, Spatial, and Spatio-Temporal Data Mining

First International Workshop TSDM 2000 Lyon, France, September 12, 2000 Revised Papers

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the First International Workshop on Temporal, Spatial, and Spatio-Temporal Data Mining, TSDM 2000, held in Lyon, France in September 2000 during the PKDD 2000 conference. The ten revised full papers presented are complemented by an introductory workshop report and an updated bibliography for the emerging new field; this bibliography is organized in nine topical chapters and lists more than 150 entries. All in all, the volume reflects the state of the art in the area and sets the scene for future R & D activities.
