Object-Oriented Design for Temporal GIS

There has been an increasing demand in GIS for systems that support historical data: time-series data as well as mobility information. From a modelling perspective, there are advantages in integrating object-oriented analysis and design to databases as well as to visualisation capabilities of GIS. Object-Oriented Design for Temporal GIS explores the major components of the object-oriented analysis and design methods, how they can be used for modelling spatio-temporal data, and how these components are developed and maintained within a GIS. It also offers practical guidance to object-oriented methods by demonstrating the feasibility of applying such methods to issues involved in handling spatio-temporal data. The author demonstrates how this knowledge might be used in a wide range of applications such as political boundary record maintenance (historical data), disease incidence rate analysis in epidemics (diffusion rate), and environmental studies of climate change (time-series data). This understanding contributes to the development of theory in GIS and improves the design of GIS to support the modelling of semantics, space and time elements of geographical information.

The GEO System (van Hoop and van Oosterom, 1992) is an example of a
prototype design in which spatial constructs have been implemented by
developing some extensions to the POSTGRES structure. Probably the best-

Machine Drawing:Includes Autocad

This book is for the course on Machine Drawing studied by the undergraduate mechanical engineering students in their 3rd semester. Unique to this is the coverage of CAD alongside the conventional discussions on each topic. The important topics pertaining to engineering drawing are covered before discussing the machine drawing concepts thus making this a complete offering on the subject.

AutoCAD Express NT

AutoCAD Express NT is a comprehensive and fun introduction to producing drawings using the world's most popular package. It follows the successful approaches of AutoCAD Express and AutoCAD for Windows Express, covering the latest developments and Release 14. New users are guided through the production of CAD drawings along a tried and tested learning curve with graded tutorial-style chapters, each one developing CAD techniques to solve specific drafting problems. Users get to appreciate how commands and tools interact to produce the desired result. The emphasis is on how to produce drawings quickly and efficiently, not by using lengthy abstract descriptions. The reader discovers as much as is needed to control the CAD output, extra features of the commands being discussed when they are useful. This is the Express approach, designed to get you up and running with AutoCAD fast. It is indispensable for architects, town planners, and all those involved in civil, structural, mechanical and design engineering. With the emphasis being on technique, even existing AutoCAD users will learn many new tricks!
