The Oxford Handbook of the African American Slave Narrative

The Oxford Handbook of the African American Slave Narrative approaches the history of slave testimony in three ways: by prioritizing the broad tradition over individual authors; by representing interdisciplinary approaches to slave narratives; and by highlighting emerging scholarship on slave narratives, concerning both established debates over concerns of authorship and agency, for example, and developing concerns like ecocritical readings of slave narratives. Ultimately, the aim of the Handbook is not to highlight the singularity of any particular account, nor to comfortably locate slave narratives in traditional literary or cultural history, but rather to faithfully represent a body of writing and testimony that was designed to speak for the many, to represent the unspeakable, and to account for the experience of enslaved and nominally free communities.

The Lilitu

The Best of Sundari Prasad

Madelaine sat down at the inlaid table and looked into the eyes of her confidante. A smile was on her friends face, but tears glistened in her eyes. They had both realized there was no other choice, but goodbyes are as small deaths, and the grief at the table was tangible.A dark dance in a lush garden of prose overshadowed by luminous specters clothed in the guise of short stories and poetry, The Lilitu are more than the children of the Hebrew Goddess Lilith-an outcast of Eden. Author Sundari Prasad's prose not only resonates, but it lives and breathes in these pages. Much like demons that tell their tales, these words want to be read.Torrid fantasies and nightmares come to life with full force, from a vampire's memories of times long gone, to a woman's romanticism of her harsh abuse at the hands of her husband. The Lilitu is a collection of deep, haunting, and wanton spirits of writing that will not be easily forgotten.

Titik Nadir Demokrasi

Tanpa disadari, korupsi menjadi salah satu "sahabat" sehari-hari kita. [Mizan, Bentang Pustaka, Cak Nun, Budaya, Masyarakat, Negara, Indonesia]

Arus Bawah

Kiai Semar menghilang. Gareng, si Filsuf Desa, gugup tak alang kepalang. Namun, Petruk malah senyum-senyum saja melihat kakaknya belingsatan. Tugas ke-Punakawan-an mereka masih jauh dari purna, tapi kenapa Semar malah lenyap tiada kabar? [Mizan, Emha Ainun Najib, Cak Nun, Punakawan, Semar, Kisah, Jawa, Indonesia]
